Importance of Java script.

Can anyone tell me, In which respect java script is having its specialty in order to developing a website? Basically what is its role in web development sector?

As of me if you want your web page to be able to interact with your visitors without having to reload the whole page from the server each time then JavaScript is your only choice. Get it working without JavaScript first though and implement the JavaScript so that it speeds up the interaction for the 90% of people with it enabled.

As per my knowledge Some programs that you are running require the javascript platform. without it, your programs would not run or have difficulty running, errors on pages and the like.
