Default Orionid Meteor Shower Peaks Overnight (early in the AM on Oct. 21)

The Orionid Meteor Shower is expected to produce dozens of meteors / "shooting stars" tonight and into the early AM tomorrow. Earth is apparently passing through some debris that was left by Halley's Comet, most of the shooting stars will be from sand grain sized bits but some may be up to the size of a pea.

Times to watch are between 1AM and 6AM (Eastern Time) with peak activity expected to be round 6AM.

John, thank you for sharing a great find with us. I will be in the city this morning, but will actually be on our houseboat tonight, so I hope to get to see this beautiful site.

I did a small amount of star gazing last night and early this morning. Ended up seeing 5 or so of the meteors / shooting stars. This was in less than 10 minutes total time watching the sky.

I'm not sure if Earth is beyond the comet debris or if we'll be seeing more tonight. The article only mentioned Tuesday night / Wednesday morning.
