Default Best 1st Person Shooter

What do you think is the best 1st Peron Shooter of all time and why?
I would have to say that I think Half-Life was the best 1st Person Shooter ever. I think it was the best becasue for the time it came out it had awsome gameplay and graphics it still has one of the best stories to today.

DOOM 3, I rarely play those types of games, but Doom really caught my attention, even thought my computer was having problem running it, the graphics were simply amazing.

Well, Halo is a well-balanced game that a lot of my friends play. Thus, I play it a lot.

I would have to agree with ebittner

Half life was one of the best games I had every played
And there were so many mods that I was playing it for years.

It really amazes me that it was based on a highly modified quake 2 engine

This is probably the right answer. I haven't got tired of playing this game. AVP was pretty good back in the day.

I'd probably say that either Medal of Honor: Rising Sun or the Call of Duty series are the best console FPS shooters around. I don't really play PC games so I wouldn't know about that. For handhelds I'd have to say Metroid Prime for the DS.
