Java Script???

Hello Every body,

I would like to ask here, What is the main important characteristics of java script is? what I understand is, It gives some add on features while designing any website through HTML or php. I am having very less idea about programming through Java script. If any one can please help me in this regard, I will be very much thankful to him.

The main aspect of Javascript is probably that it's a client side type of programming where it is executed in the web browser rather than on the server.

It's quite useful in adding special functionality to websites, but is not necessary for all websites.
