Default Free E-mail Server

Is there any free e-mail server software, I've looked around a bit but have come across none and if there is, is it any good?

Humm? Are you talking about Linux or Windows? All of the email servers are free for Linux.

I'm talking about Windows, I've never seemed to find a free one for windows. Sorry about asking a Windows question on a Linux forum.

I've used both the Pro and Standard (Free) version of MailEnable, only thing you don't get with Standard is IMAP and webmail. If you are just looking to offer POP3/SMTP access it's a great mail server. I don't know if Pro still operates the same as it used to but in the past you could use Pro, just attachments via the webmail would be disabled. Even if you end up paying for Pro its a lot easier on your pocket then paying for MDaemon, Merak, or some of the other mailservers out there.
