Default Banners or Text Ads?

I'm curious where people spend most of their advertising budget - do you prefer text ads or banners?

I've found that while banners are cheap CPM wise, you tend to get very, very little return for them. Text ads bring more clicks, but seem to drain your money fast.

the ctr for text ads is much much more higher then graphic ads. but the cpm for graphic ads are much much more cheaper. this can be a dilemma for advertisers out there.

My advice is to experiment with what works best with your niche topic.

also, do not oversee the power of offline advertising

I have the chance to get a cheap run of flyers to distribute in local shops - so I'll be seeing the power of offline advertising hopefully

In my opinion, text ads are better unless you just want to build brand recognition. I'd be interested to hear of people who use banners to any degree of success.

Offline advertising isn't so great here. I am in the middle of nowhere, Ohio. I can promote all I want to offline, but no very many people will see it. Plus, most people here do not own a computer or if they do, they do not have the internet. I do have a site that's more local that half of the advertising is done offline.

Banners have been around long enough that the whole banner blindness thing comes into play. Most people will not click on a banner because they do not pay any attention to it. I go with text links because they work. Banners may be cheaper, but you could flush the money down the toilet and get the same results.
