What benefits are to gain from sending out daily, weekly, or monthly newsletters. Do you find that lost members/customers are reminded of your site and return? Do your members/customers like to know what's going on?

I personally don't subscibe to newsletters. I do, though, like to subscribe to RSS feeds. Having unncessary emails seems to be bothersom to me rather than checking on RSS every day or so.

Newsletters are a great way to keep your members focused on your site. It also servers as a great encouragement to come to your site again and reuse your services. If dont properly, you can generate a great load of recurring sales from these members. Newsletters are one of the best tools a web promoter can use, however, many people take it for granted.

Ya, newsletter are great. They will keep your members updated, and keep them comming back to your website, instead of just forgetting about it. Also, you can use your newsletter to sell ad space in, which will earn you a little bit of extra cash.

I'll have to keep the annoyance factor in mind. I know that I get annoyed by them a lot of the time, especially if they're sent frequently.

You are correct in all that you say. Newsletters are a good way to keep your business and website fresh and peope's minds. This can be a good promotion tool while still providing good advice and information for thos who read your newsletter.
