Half Life was a groundbreaking game, and changed the FPS genre forever. Although it looks blocky now, it was a fantastic tribute to the power of 3D graphics in its time. The gameplay was unique and immersive, and there was adequate challenge and diversity to keep things interesting.
Although Half Life 2 looks fantastic and is by no means a bad game, it didn't quite have the same effect as its former, plus it didn't spawn Counter-Strike
