McAfee Vs ZoneAlarm

Which one do you think is better? I have never tried any of those but I am stick with Norton. I am planning to purchase a Firewall + Anti-Virus Bundle pack. Which one do you think is the best? Price doesn't matter to me as I know they aren't that expensive.

Thank you.

Eminem 05-05-2006 07:05 PM

Bump. :)

This got only 1 view (From me :P); so thought a bump would help. :)

Thanks.

John2 05-06-2006 10:34 AM

I have used McAfee. Its pretty nice. Never used ZoneAlarm. What about you ?

Eminem 05-06-2006 12:55 PM

Haven't used any of them. I am going to buy either McAfee or ZoneAlarm or any other firewall that's nice and well known.

Just need some testimonials to decide what to buy ;)

Lamer980 09-03-2008 05:05 AM

the best anti virus is kaspersky. its is slow buy it catch most of the virus missed by mcafee and norton. if you my dual core system. use 2 security suite. im using kaspersky, norton 2006, zone alarm, spy doctor. spy doctor is one of the best one. it may not be a big name, but it works well.

sysnetinfosystems 09-20-2008 06:50 AM

Avira AntiVir is good antivirus.

andylewis 09-22-2008 04:50 AM

Hi,
kaspersky is the best anti virus as it catch most of the virus missed by mcafee and norton.
Cheers,
Andy

prijikn 09-22-2008 06:09 AM

zone alarm is much is easier to use than mcafee and does not cost anything

DominicXavier 10-21-2008 01:31 AM

I use Avast. Freebie, and very reliable. Endorsed by PC World, and it eats up far fewer resources that mcafee or norton.

zach tyrl 10-29-2008 02:16 AM

1) I dislike both of them, but moreso Mcafee. I wouldn't use either...McAfee Personal Firewall is a resource hog and lacks customization options, while Zone Alarm, in my experience, has been plagued with that "True Vector Corruption" error and Zone Labs changing its product lines and doing away with the nice product I liked which was ZA Plus, which was annoying.

2) In terms of "Suites", the newest bloated ZAP IS a suite product, that includes Privacy, along with Anti-Virus components, not to mention an Anti-Spam component, so these are in all practical purposes SUITE products, and I do agree that layered security is better than packaged into one SUITE of products.

SamSimon 11-23-2008 04:38 AM

As far as I know, I belive that McAfee is the better one that anyother guards,

Am I right guys?

Cheers :)

I have a similar situation as well. My mom just bought
herself an HP/Compaq Presario, which came preloaded with
a 60 day trial version of NIS 2005 Anti Spyware Edition.

While I like the relative simplicity and intuitiveness
of the firewall rules it creates, I'm not too thrilled
with the tendency for NIS to be a resource hog, nor the
high price they want for an annual subscription ($39.95).
It expries on January 28, 2006, and I think I will be
looking for a similar package, or put Zone Alarm Free,
Avast and MS Antispyware on it. It already has Spyware
Blaster, and my mom is primarily going to be using
Firefox 1.5 as the browser of choice. Avast has an
auto update function, but I don't know about ZAF or MSAS.

i would also like to prefer McAfee ......hope this will helps u ....actually i heard a lot about this .....anyway i am using nod32 and it is good for me .....

sam1 01-07-2009 08:19 AM

No doubt McAfee is one but it is little bit heavy on the system.

Steven Perry 04-24-2009 07:51 PM

I have never used zone alarm I know norton is very good except that Mc afee is ok.

Greg Taylor 04-30-2009 07:24 PM

I don't know but I don't like Norton it makes my PC slow, or maybe I just know how to used it. Bullguard and McAfee work with me best.

i think avast is a good one ... i have tried kaspersky , it will slow down your system . so not a preferable one . i have tried Rising anti virus also .. it is better than kaspersky

lga1983 07-17-2009 06:02 AM

Hi!! I think you can use McAfee. The free version that you find on the internet should be good enough. I have it and I am quite happy with it.

:-)

gowriikav 07-24-2009 12:13 AM

i think McAfee is best one.. i am using McAfee only

jingles 08-05-2009 02:31 PM

McAfee is much more better than zonalarm. You need to go for McAfee. I am using it and i am very much satisfied with its performance.

Buy silversurfer vaporizer

Cas 08-16-2009 09:31 AM

I prefer McAfee as it has been my virus scanner for as long as I own a computer.

~kev~ 09-02-2009 01:19 PM

I try not to use software firewalls on my computers - they get in the way of sharing folders, and sharing printers.

You should always have a hardware firewall at the front of the network. That way you do not need a software firewall.

When I travel and bring my laptop, and use a public internet connection such as at a hotel, I like Zonealarm. It is just easy to use and easy to configure.

G33KG1RL 09-03-2009 04:16 PM

I use Norton Internet Security and Virus Scanner, and it works great for me. But I don't know how it compares to other security software, because I've only used Norton.

rocky67 11-04-2009 12:43 PM

Afee is the only Antivirus program that we tested that includes a fully functioning Firewall in its base Antivirus program. Some Antivirus programs include a one-way Firewall

gilli1211 11-14-2009 07:36 AM

My vote is for Mcafee. I haven't use the other one so i can't give my review about it.

TechGuru9 11-26-2009 12:21 PM

I would say its comparing apple with oranges, Zone Alarm's is a proven firewall software but its antispyware etc are not comparable to the lights of top ones like Mcafee

bt-t 02-08-2010 03:34 AM

Hi!!

I have Avira AntiVir and I am pretty satisfy with it... :-)

pengerik 02-16-2010 12:41 AM

I love AVG AntiVirus - as it suits my needs perfectly - and free of charge :)
Else I'm running C.o.m.o.d.o - and for a free version it's highly advanced as far as I've experienced. I used Norton at first, but because of the vast amount of resources it claims - it severely hampered the speed of my computer at times! AVG though - just perfect :)

jaydeee 04-09-2010 04:11 AM

I've used both of them.
Mcafee has Antivirus and firewall while ZoneAlarm are just firewall. I'm not aware though if ZoneAlarm now has Antivirus too. :)

In this case they are incomparable.

aladamapee 05-22-2010 11:29 PM

I had used MCafee for 3 years then change my anti virus, now a days i am using AVAST anti virus. I think, it is the best anti virus software. you any try it, and let us know

Alonso30 11-13-2010 07:19 AM

i preferre bit defender

dvdreplication 01-13-2011 01:49 AM

McAfee all the way. I am also using it for last 6 months and its been doing the best. So my vote is with McAfee.

soccerjerseys 02-17-2012 12:50 AM

McAfee would be the best option. I would suggest you to go for it as its the best.

sijugk 02-26-2012 01:02 PM

I am using Avast in my computer and it is working fine. Kaspersky Suit is running in my laptop. I am happy with both of them.
